Position: Advisory Circle
Dr. Mitul Kapadia joined CFHI’s Advisory Circle in 2015. He is currently the director of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. He is a pediatric physiatrist, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation for children with disabling conditions, such as brain and spinal cord injuries, rheumatologic disorders, amputations or limb deficiencies, cancer, neurologic conditions, and orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. He has a special interest in sports medicine and concussion management in young athletes. He also has certification in structural acupuncture for physicians from Harvard University and adapts acupuncture techniques to treat patients with various ailments. Dr. Kapadia holds an MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and a Bachelor of Science in an Honors Liberal Arts program (Plan II) from the University of Texas in Austin. Additionally, he received a master of science in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics. He completed two residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, one in Pediatrics and one in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is board certified in both disciplines. He is a two-time CFHI alumni after participating in the India Himalayan rotation as a college student in 2000 and in the Family Medicine and Tropical Medicine rotation in Ecuador as a medical student in 2002. He has currently been working on developing a rural community-based rehabilitation program in rural Karnataka, India.
