The AMSA Global Health 4-Week Place-Based Scholarship, presented by CFHI, provides an exciting opportunity for AMSA members to participate in a 4-week place-based program in 2024. AMSA, the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. Eligible applicants must be AMSA members currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program, demonstrating a strong commitment to global health and explaining how a CFHI program will contribute to their growth as future physicians. This scholarship supports students in accessing high-quality global health experiences through CFHI.

The Historically Black College or University (HBCU) Global Health Scholarship is open to current or recent graduates of HBCUs. The LMIC Leaders in Global Health Scholarship offers professional development opportunities in global health through CFHI’s Virtual Global & Public Health Internships and Virtual Practica. The Loeliger 4th Year International Elective Scholarship is inspired by the remarkable career of Dr. Scott Loeliger, a Family Physician devoted to advancing health equity, multiculturalism, and underserved care within his community. This scholarship is designed for 4th-year allopathic or osteopathic medical students worldwide who plan to embark on a CFHI place-based program of at least 4 weeks in duration during their final year of medical school. Participants have the opportunity to take UC Davis classes focused on this topic and engage in approximately 180 hours of clinical rotations in Oaxaca, Mexico, through internships in hospitals and clinics. Eligibility is open to prospective students intending to participate in the UC Davis Quarter Abroad Latinx Health Internship Program in Oaxaca, Mexico, during the specified term, while maintaining good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or above. The VSLO Global Health Scholarship provides an opportunity for medical and public health students to engage in short-term learning experiences through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)’s Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program. In 2023, this scholarship is specifically designated for virtual programs. The VSLO program, established in 2018, combines the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS®) program and the GHLO® program, offering a wide range of elective opportunities including observerships, research programs, clinical rotations, and more in institutions across the United States and globally. Eligible students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate programs can apply for this scholarship to participate in a virtual CFHI program through VSLO in 2023. Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to global health and articulate how their participation in a CFHI program will contribute to their future careers as healthcare professionals.

The CFHI Virtual Global Health Elective scholarship provides recipients with a full tuition waiver for the program. The scholarship covers 100% of the cost, allowing students to participate in the four-week, full-time virtual elective without any financial burden. This opportunity enables students to develop key competencies in Global Health, engage in interactive sessions with international faculty members and peers, complete assignments and group work, and build a comprehensive e-portfolio.
