CFHI ALUMNI UPDATES & OPPORTUNITIES:
CFHI Alumni Meet-ups:Once a year in early September, alumni meet-ups are a chance each for alumni to learn more about global health and ways to stay connected with CFHI.Go to the CFHI Home Page and click on the 1st "In Focus" campaign to read an article about our New York Meet-up earlier this year.
Alumni Fellow Program:
The alumni Fellow program provides a unique opportunity for alumni to return to their original program site for 11 weeks during the summer months.This position develops excellent program management, interpersonal, cross-cultural communications, and evaluation skills that can enhance a career in global health. This program is funded by CFHI – Fellows receive a daily stipend and airfare to their program site. For a detailed description of the Alumni Fellow program click here.
Alumni Ambassador Program:
Alumni Ambassadors are alumni who have felt a connection to their experience while overseas with CFHI and want to share their stories and insight with prospective/enrolled CFHI students participating in the same program.Alumni Ambassadors act as a resource for students who are due to participate in CFHI programs, helping to answer students’ pre-departure questions and offer advice on how students can get the most out of their global health program. Alumni Campus Representative Program:
Add to your resume and help promote CFHI in your city or school campus by acting as a CFHI Campus Representative. As a Campus Representative you will have the opportunity to attend global health conferences and university fairs in your local area to present information about CFHI and speak about your experience on program.Email alumni@cfhi.org to sign-up.
Change.org- Donate/ Fundraise to provide direct support to your program country:
You saw firsthand the challenges people face in obtaining healthcare in your host country and program site.In an effort to make a greater impact CFHI has joined Change.org--a non-profit social networking site that facilitates fundraising and activism.CFHI’s change.org fundraising projects are an ongoing way to give back to the communities you were a part of during your CFHI program.Check out CFHI's Change.org page and encourage family and friends to contribute towards hospitals, clinics, medical equipment, etc. in your program country.By creating fundraising pages, blogging, and letting people know about CFHI fundraising projects you can create awareness and support that goes directly to where it’s needed most.
10% off CFHI Program Fees for returning Alumni:
CFHI offers a 10% discount on program fees for all CFHI alumni.Email students@cfhi.org if you are considering applying for another CFHI program and would like to take advantage of this discount.
Global Health Resources:
As a CFHI alumnus/a, you qualify for a free membership to the Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC). GHEC's mission is to foster global health education for healthcare providers in four program areas: Curriculum, Clinical Training, Career Development, and Health-related International Education Policy. GHEC membership is a great resource for individuals looking to get involved with global health issues: website resources, regional and international conferences, listserv and newsletters. To register as a member of GHEC online, please follow the directions below.
1. Visit the GHEC web page www.globalhealthedu.org
2. Click on “Join Us” then “ISF Student Registration”
3. You will find an online form which can be completed and submitted. In the field labeled "GHEC Institution" type "Child Family Health International".
Please note that memberships run from January 1 to December 31 of each year. Students that join GHEC under CFHI's umbrella membership must renew their membership every January by filling out the online form. Free memberships do not apply to residents. From the time of your CFHI program participation until December 31st of that same year, you will be eligible for this free membership, after which time GHEC will determine your membership rates.
