In early 2010, the CFHI clinic was moved from Than Gaon to the rural village of Patti. Patti lies about 1
hour from Dehradun in the foothills of the Himalayas. The clinic is centrally located amongst a cluster of 8 villages. CFHI has been working in this Gram Sabha (cluster of villages) since 1998. The
accommodation and space
for clinic has been provided by a former village leader, “Panchayat
head” who also runs a ration shop nearby where the entire village comes
for
their daily requirement. There is also a government-run junior high school situated
opposite the clinic. The clinic provides routine check-ups for
school children with the help of CFHI participants.

Introduction
Supporting an ongoing operation to maintain a successful health clinic serving Than Gaon and 28 surrounding villages
Description
In 1998, the villagers of Than Gaon entered into a partnership with CFHI to set up a small clinic for those there and in the nine surrounding villages. Under the direction of Dr. U.S. Paul, the clinic is now in its twelfth year of operation. As this is the only health clinic in over a 50 km radius, it serves not only the Than Gaon population, but those living in the surrounding villages as well.
The clinic provides primary health services for the people of Than Gaon and twenty-eight surrounding villages, lowering the rate of infection and disease. Now, the health of the villagers is far better, and thousands of patients have access to healthcare.
Please note that in early 2010, the CFHI clinic was moved from Than Gaon to the rural village of Patti. This new site is centrally located amongst a cluster of 8 villages, allowing the clinic to serve a combined population of approximately 1,500 people.
This is a fairly unique project for CFHI in that we do not typically support building projects such as this, but rather build on existing grassroots competencies.
