The 'Catch Them Young' initiative will provide training and education to youth in Pawananagar. Pawananagar
is located 75 km from Pune and consists of 20 villages. The initiative aims to
target 2,000 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 20 out of a total
population of 20,000.
The initiative aims to
protect these young against the risks of drug and alcohol abuse, teenage
pregnancy, and sexually transmitted disease by education and outreach in the
form of trainings and workshops. These workshops will include anatomical and
physiological information, as well as sex education.
The funding provided by CFHI
will go towards the employment of a local community health worker, and a local
project coordinator, in addition to providing transportation, meeting expenses,
and honorarium to local speakers.
