The Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC)

GHEC is a consortium of faculty and health care educators dedicated to international health education in and Canadian medical schools and residency programs. Founded in 1991 as IHMEC, it is GHEC's mission to foster international health medical education in four program areas - curriculum, clinical training, career development, and international education policy.

University Coalitions for Global Health (UCGH)

Hosted by the Global Health Council, the University Coalitions for Global Health Resource Group (UCGH) is a national collaboration among health-focused organizations with a university presence. Established in the fall of 2004, the UCGH Resource Group currently includes the UNICEF Campus Initiative, the Student Global AIDS Campaign, the Student Campaign for Child Survival, Student National Medical Association, Students Partnership Worldwide and the Global Health Council University Program. Other collaborating organizations include the American Medical Student Association, the American Public Health Association and Universities Allied for Essential Medicines.

Step Up Travel

Founded by two medical students who met volunteering in the Emergency Department of the largest, most beleaguered public hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Souza Aguiar, Step Up Travel's vision is to empower local people, organizations, and travelers to work together to promote quality responsible travel experiences and to emphasize the importance of personal exchanges, deeper cultural understanding, genuine benefit to local people and their communities, preservation of the environment, and ultimately a more peaceful and equitable world.

The Network: TUFH is a global association of individuals, groups, institutions and organizations committed to improving and maintaining health in the communities they have a mandate to serve.
The Network: TUFH is a Non-Governmental Organization in official relationships with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Global Health through Education training and Service (GHETS)

GHETS is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based in the , dedicated to improving health in developing countries through innovations in education and service. GHETS provides start-up grants to local training institutions in low-income countries, and the technical help to launch and improve programs that prepare and support healthcare workers in rural and poor communities. We believe that well trained and supported doctors, nurses and allied health workers are key to sustainable change.

GHETS is a seed funding and program-development partner of The Network (TUFH). GHETS and The Network: TUFH have joined forces to promote strategies for change that address the health related challenges of poor and underserved communities in developing countries.

 

Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER)

FAIMER seeks to improve the health of communities by improving health professions education. FAIMER concentrates its efforts in developing regions in South Asia, Africa, and Latin America , and focuses on three specific strategies: faculty development, targeted research that informs health workforce policy and practice, and development of data that advances educational quality improvement decisions. FAIMER participates in the global dialogue on improving international health professions education. We actively seek collaborations with a broad range of partners – local experts with whom we can share experiences and learn how to best respond to the needs of the communities. Through this collective exploration and problem-solving, we strive for tangible results from the activities that we believe will lead to healthier communities.
